The cornerstone of relevance is education. In order to preserve and protect the resources associated with parks and public land, it is critical that we involve our next generation of stewards as soon as possible. Science education helps students, young and old, to understand how they are connected to the natural world and fosters an increased sense of responsibility for individual impact. Introducing themes of diversity, preservation, and wilderness into the experience of the school-aged, science learner provides for earlier and more cohesive understanding of the practice and goals of scientific research in the public sphere.
