Within US national parks, exotic plant species modify landscapes and natural disturbance regimes  (e.g., fire and flooding), reduce native plant and animal habitat, and increase trail maintenance needs. For national parks in the Southern Colorado Plateau Inventory and Monitoring Network (SCPN), the first step to controlling exotic plants is to complete exotic species inventories. This inventory recorded the exotic plants found in Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument. Information from the inventory can now be incorporated into weed management projects aiming to restore and preserve the Monument's natural and cultural landscapes.
