Pecos NHP Bird & Herp Inventory

Some plant and animal groups at Pecos National Historical Park (NHP) have been comprehensively surveyed in recent years, but this is not the case for breeding birds. A herpetofauna inventory was conducted in the mid-1990’s, but additional surveys were needed. Natural Heritage New Mexico conducted inventories of vertebrates and plants for three national parks in New Mexico in 2002, including Pecos NHP. In each park, inventories were performed for taxa that had not already been thoroughly surveyed. The inventory results provide baseline information for future inventory and monitoring.
