Chickasaw NRA Mammal, Bird, & Herpetological Inventory

Project Type:  Inventory
Project Status:  Completed

The Chickasaw National Recreation Area (NRA), nearly 10,000 acres in size, is located in Murray County approximately 120 km south of Oklahoma City. Three major creeks in the area, Rock, Buckhorn, and Guy Sandy Creek, all flow into Lake of the Arbuckles’ Reservoir. Forest, herbaceous, and woodland vegetation types dominate Chickasaw NRA, and about 16% of the area is covered by the Lake of the Arbuckles. The Oklahoma Natural Heritage Inventory conducted an inventory for mammals, birds, and herpetofauna at Chickasaw NRA during 2003.
