Chickasaw National Recreation Area

The “Peaceful Valley of Rippling Waters” appropriately describes Chickasaw National Recreation Area, known for its many mineral springs, cool water, flora, and fauna. Here one’s mind may wander back in time to when the early Native American came to this area to rest, relax at the water’s edge, or hunt for food from the abundant wildlife. Situated where two different ecosystems overlap, the eastern deciduous forest and the mixed-grass prairie, wildlife species include turkey, deer, quail, ducks, and geese. Hunting, camping, boating, and hiking are some of the activities available.
